The Cormoran Activator - let it swim.

"The Activator is a Superlative lure that unifies everything that is expected of a Top of the range lure.

This is the general description which can be found at the package of the mentioned soft plastic lure. We had not read that before testing. but we did after. When we saw and felt the lures at De Moel Enkhuizen, some time ago already, we had only one thing on our mind :  Let it Swim...

Sometime about 10 years ago, the total boycot on live fish baites was installed in Holland by law. Terrible to see, how the specific way of live baits fishing was easely removed from the Dutch anglers options. I wondered many times why they choosed for killing at front(dead baits are approved) above a possible anglers respect for swimming life.

In any case, dead baits are not swimming themselves and many anglers made a shift to Spinner, lures and other kinds of manufactured look-a-likes for a pike. Mepps spinners and floating Rappala are those where I looked for at first, when the Polder lures collection needed to be extended.

When I saw the Cormoran Activator for the first time, I was really joyed. A Softplastic fish, with one big triple hook attached. They look like a Fish and feel so too.

At first, we have been playing with the natural looking, small floating activator. It is 13 cm, 35 grams and has a triple hook attached. This lure really proved itself multiple times already,

So thats why we have added the larger Perch version to our collection. It's weight is 95 grams, 18 cms. It looks like a fat perch.

We immediately removed all contra hooks, as we prefer losing the predator that bites, above damaging it. We have the experience, that sometimes with smaller pikes, all three hooks have entered the fish and that it is difficult to remove the triple hook. We also must say, that we prefer a direct water removal above taking the fish out. Our view is simple : Prevent damaging and stress and both(fish and fisherman) with flourish at the end.

We take the Shakespeare Ugly Stick as heavy casting rod, with dyneema  line 16%, as this 100 grams lure needs some backup rod attached to it. It's sunny weather, 4 celsius, 09:30. The lure castes about 30 meter with our rod. After some throws, the first Pike hits.

We remove it in the water and let it swim again.

The next casts are going great as well. We see some small pikes following the lure and a much larger Pike showing his affection in a glimpse, leaving just dust behind, when he saw my smile.

The activator deserves his name. It will bring you, the angler, in a position, to activate the pike when you activate this particular lure.
